THE VISION FOR HOLY TRINITY

HI! My name is Roy Taylor and I am planning to resurrect the Table Tennis Club that was part of Holy Trinity's activities until recently and had to be disbanded due to the condition of the tables and lack of availability of someone to organise the club.​

​

I moved back to Ripon in 2023 after attending St Peters Church in Harrogate for several years where  I acted  in several roles:- PCC, Pastoral Care Team ( with Roma) and Waste Recycling!  I was also involved in the setting up of the Sanctuary Youth Club and the introduction of table tennis.

It was through a Church Youth Club in Pudsey that I was able to discover the enjoyment of table tennis. It helped my mum to work/relax knowing that I was in a safe environment with like-minded children who gained the skills of a sport :-

​

•  good exercise both physically and mentally;

•  working together as a team;

•  praising others success;

•  determination to train to improve their skills;

•  patience to persevere when things aren't going well!

All  of which helped me to achieve success in the sport of cycling which led me to being fortunate to represent Great Britain Internationally and as a member of an Olympic Squad.

My recent comeback to the sport of table tennis began when I moved back to Ripon where I travelled to Kirkby Malzeard to join 20+ members who were mainly retired. It is a very happy atmosphere full of laughter with a cuppa and snack at the interval.It helped me to make lots of friends and introduce other people to the sport. I was then encouraged by Bob Moffat , a local Table Tennis England coach, to join the Northallerton League as a member of Rainton Village team in 2025. This was a great fun-filled experience and helped me to improve my game and meet lots of new friends.

My vision is to create such an atmosphere in Ripon by resurrecting the facilities in Holy Trinity and encouraging young and old to take up the sport.
